What is the difference between Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 5n?
Ioniq Vs Ioniq
What’s the difference between the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N?
Ioniq fans all over North Carolina are asking us this question. So, we decided to do a deep dive into both and clear any lingering doubts. Despite them being just a letter apart and having the same badge, the two can be considered significantly different cars.
Carolina Hyundai is proud to bring you both models at a fantastic price. While the 2025 Ioniq N is already available for purchase, we’re expecting a fall 2024 release for the 2025 Ioniq 5. Fill out our waitlist form at the bottom of this page to ensure you get your hands on one before anyone else!
And in the meantime, if you’d rather have a different Hyundai EV, we’d highly recommend a new Hyundai Kona Electric for sale in High Point and the surrounding areas. It’s one of the highest-selling SUVs out there, and its EV model has been knocking it out of the park.
Before we dive into a head-to-head comparison between the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 5 N, let’s address another question that a lot of people have:
What is the N badge on the Ioniq?
The N badge represents Hyundai’s N-division—an in-house team that focuses on sportier versions of Hyundai cars. They transform popular models into performance-driven variants designed to deliver all the adrenaline rushes. They also come with their own badging and interior upgrades.
If you’re interested in a different N variant from Hyundai that isn’t an EV, we’d suggest a new Hyundai Elantra N for sale; in High Point or the surrounding areas.
Now, let’s compare the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 5 N:
Overall
In the simplest terms, the Ioniq 5 is an all-electric SUV designed for trips in and around the city, while the Ioniq 5 N is a sports car tuned to deliver the ultimate driving experience and peak performance.
Battery
Both, the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 5 N have the same battery—an 84 kWh setup. Note that this is an upgrade from the 2024 version’s battery pack, which was a 77.4 kWh battery pack.
Motor
The Ioniq 5 comes with a standard single RWD drivetrain (which makes sense for city driving), while the Ioniq 5 N boasts an HTRAC AWD offering more control over the drive. In addition, the Ioniq 5 N comes with performance enhancers such as the N Drift Optimizer and the N Grin Boost.
Because the Ioniq 5 N’s performance is so optimized, it has an EPA-estimated range of 221 miles on a single charge, compared to the Ioniq 5’s mammoth 325 miles.
Handling
Based on the above if you haven’t guessed already, the Ioniq 5 offers a more composed and comfortable driving experience, while the 5 N prioritizes sharper steering, a stiffer suspension, and a more agile driving experience.
Design
Finally, the Ioniq 5’s design is futuristic and sleek, but still within the larger Hyundai wheelhouse and aesthetic. The Ioniq 5 N embraces more of its N-badge elements with larger intakes, spoilers, and sportier interiors.
